Steven A. Goldstein has been the Director of the Noninvasive Cardiology at Washington Hospital Center since 1980. His major area of interest is clinical cardiology and echocardiography (ultrasound of the heart), especially diseases of the aorta, valvular heart disease, and the role of echocardiography for guiding procedures in the Cath Lab. Dr. Goldstein is a Diplomat in the American Board of Internal Medicine and is Board Certified by in Cardiovascular Disease. He is a past Board Member of the American Society of Echocardiography, is on the editorial board of the Journal of the American Society of Echocardiography and serves on several committees of the American Society of Echocardiography. He was a recipient of the Excellence of Teaching Award of the Dept. of Medicine, the Excellence of Teaching Award of the Department of Cardiology of Georgetown/Washington Hospital Center (2007, 2009, and 2013), and prestigious Gold-Headed Cane Award at the Washington Hospital Center for devotion to duty and patient care. And most recently, a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award of the American Society of Echocardiography (to be presented at the upcoming Annual Scientific Sessions, June, 2015).
